The Collapse of Mark Robinson's World
The self-righteous Christian nationalist and self-described Black Nazi is learning what GOP karma is like.

The hollow, hate-filled world that Mark Robinson has spent the last half decade creating is falling apart. His façade of hyper-Christianity has been cracking to the point of disintegration.
Robinson is facing what for anyone one else might be a teachable moment with his trademark stubbornness and defiance. Of course, for a teachable moment to be a teachable moment, those experiencing it need to be teachable.
Here’s a sampling of the Republican colleagues and allies who have abandoned Robinson:
Chris Rodriguez (Campaign Manager) — Stepped down
Jason Rizk (Deputy Campaign Manager) — Stepped down
Heather Whillier (Campaign Finance Manager & GOP Fundraiser) — Stepped down
Conrad Pogorzelski (Campaign Senior Advisor) — Stepped down
GOP Governor’s Association — No longer supporting Robinson
Bill Lee (Governor of Tennessee) — Withdrew endorsement
Brian Kemp (Governor of Georgia) — Withdrew endorsement
Unsurprisingly, there has been no such abandonment by any Nazis, at least not publicly. Well, unless you count Trump not including Robinson in his upcoming North Carolina rally.
The departures of his staff members reportedly came after Robinson turned down offers of IT expertise to help him try to prove that the porn site posts were not connected to him, as he had publicly proclaimed. Of course, that offer proved to be far too risky, because any ensuing cyber-investigation was likely to provide ironclad proof that the account on Nude Africa, and all the posts from that account, were indeed his.
As of Tuesday, Robinson claims to have hired a law firm to investigate the origination of the “false smears” made against him and made public by CNN. It’s pretty revealing that he didn’t bring a libel lawsuit against CNN. (My guess is that the sole purpose for engaging this law firm is to create the illusion of an actual legal process being underway so that voters may think there’s validity to his claims, at least through the election.)
Robinson has become the butt of countless jokes, the subject of innumerable memes and late night talk show monologues, with ridicule coming from both the right and the left.
Call it karma. Call it just deserts. Call it comeuppance or payback. 100% of the negative attention Robinson is finally receiving is the result of his own extremism, his own hatred, his own hypocrisy and inner turmoil.
What bears repeating is that all of the odious things that Mark Robinson said and did prior to the most recently uncovered revelations — his blatant homophobia, his violent anti-trans rhetoric, his anti-Semitism, his misogyny, his advocacy of Christian nationalism, his endorsement of Obama birtherism, his “some folks need killing” sermonizing — were not sufficient red flags for any of these folks who are now abandoning him to create a distance between themselves and Robinson.
All of that bile was OK with Republicans, including most especially Donald Trump. But revelations of his kinky sexual proclivities and, probably more alienating, his proclamation of “Black Nazi” status were finally enough to push them over the edge.
Whatever happens in his supporters’ political lives in the future, they should be forever tarnished by their association with Robinson. Of course, that’s not how the Republican party usually works, so I’m not expecting much from the GOP.
But what happens next for Robinson? The most recent polling numbers in North Carolina show him with a 14-point deficit behind his Democratic opponent, Josh Stein. The odds certainly aren’t very good for him to prevail in the Governor’s race, although this is the United States in 2024, so who knows.
But Robinson isn’t showing any signs of remorse or repentance. Even Madison Cawthorn, another right-wing sexual hypocrite son of North Carolina, knew to throw in the towel when caught with his pants down. But, as of this writing, Robinson hasn’t blinked.
It’s hard to imagine Mark Robinson finding a job after this campaign. His previous job at a furniture manufacturer might even be out of reach. So from where he sits, it probably looks like the Governor’s mansion is his only option. He’s got nothing to lose and everything to gain.
It’s no wonder Trump and Robinson were drawn to each other. They’re cut from the same cloth. They’re both apparently incapable of shame. Robinson’s defiance in the face of incontrovertible evidence also mirrors Trump’s.
They’re also both in the same situation politically — fighting for their lives and hoping to attain elected office to shield themselves from the consequences of their own actions and behaviors. And both seem to be willing to pursue their only remaining option, no matter the detriment to the people they purport to serve.
One thing is clear, though. Trump has survived within his own party through impeachments and felony convictions. Robinson speedily rose through the ranks of the North Carolina GOP in spite of — and perhaps because of — his truly foul words and beliefs.
Republicans will try to tell you otherwise but, sadly, Robinson and Trump are the best the GOP has to offer.
The Mark Robinson saga is a developing story, so I’ll try to post updates in a timely fashion.
Thank you, Theo. He is such a Simpleton to me. I'm gonna see if he has a wife, out of curiosity, to see if his attempt of being, "at the top", flows over into his personal life, or, if she has dumped him in a timely manner.
