WTF is DOGE?
Elon's sophomoric ideas for cost-cutting could tank our economy. You'll suffer. But he's willing to make that sacrifice.

Trump announced earlier this week that he’d be creating a weird non-governmental government agency — the “Department of Government Efficiency” or DOGE — to be headed by Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy. This should come as no surprise. Musk has been touting this (until now) imaginary department on X/Twitter for some time and, as recently as the beginning of this month, he has been quoted as saying that, should Trump win re-election, that Americans should expect “temporary hardship” from the massive economic downturn his cuts would cause.
That seems like a bit of an understatement. Musk and Trump are proposing $2 trillion in cuts — roughly a third of the nation’s annual budget:
